Safety, Care, and Use
Fireside Experience, Upgraded
Basecamp 24â„¢ is designed for an easy, smokeless burn that lights quickly and keeps gatherings going. A little smoke during startup is normal and clears quickly once the fire reaches temperature.
- To get the best performance:
- Start with 4-5 dry split logs
- Keep logs stacked below the secondary burn holes
- Use a log cabin stack instead of a teepee stack
- We recommend starting your fire with 2-3 logs for Ranger, 3-4 logs for Bonfire, 4-5 logs for Basecamp, 5-6 for Yukon and 6+ for Canyon.
Stainless Steel with Character
-
Over time, the stainless steel will develop a natural golden-blue patina. This is normal and part of the fire pit’s character. If you prefer a brighter finish, wipe the exterior with a soft brush or stainless-steel cleaner.
Burn Safe, Burn Smart
- Always place your fire pit on a stable, non-flammable surface and keep clear of:
- Overhangs
- Patio ceilings
- Nearby flammable materials
- Basecamp 24â„¢ includes a Stand to help protect heat-sensitive surfaces like patios and decks.
- Sparks and embers may escape depending on your environment or the wood you burn. Add a Fire Pit Shield to help stop embers before they reach nearby furniture or surfaces.
Safety First
- Never leave a lit fire unattended.
- Hot Surface Warning: The exterior of your stainless-steel smokeless fire pit gets extremely hot during use—keep kids, pets, and anything flammable at a safe distance.
- For extra peace of mind, try the Surround to create a protective barrier.
- Always keep a fire extinguisher or water source nearby in case of emergency.
Easy Cleanup
- Once the fire pit has cooled completely:
- Lift the base plate
- Remove the ash pan
- Empty the ashes and replace the components
- Boom, your fire pit is ready for the next burn.
What makes Basecampâ„¢ different from the Bonfire fire pit?
Basecamp 24™ is designed for fires that happen often. With a 24-inch diameter and room for 5–7 people, it’s built to live in the backyard as your everyday gathering fire pit. Bonfire is smaller and easier to move, making it a better choice for fires on the go. Basecamp 24™ is the fire pit you leave outside, light up often, and build backyard nights around.
Can I use Basecampâ„¢ on decks or composite surfaces?
Yes. Basecamp 24â„¢ includes a Stand designed to help protect heat-sensitive surfaces like decks and patios. Because surface materials vary, we recommend checking with your deck manufacturer and using additional heat protection if needed.
Is Basecampâ„¢ truly smokeless?
Basecamp 24™ uses Solo Stove’s Signature 360° Airflow Design® to re-burn smoke before it escapes, creating a cleaner burn with significantly less smoke than a traditional fire pit. You may see a little smoke during startup, which is normal and fades quickly once the fire reaches temperature. For best results, keep logs stacked below the secondary burn holes inside the fire pit.
What type of wood should I use with Basecampâ„¢?
Use dry, split hardwoods like oak, maple, birch, or hickory for the best performance. Wet or soft woods create more smoke and reduce efficiency. Basecamp 24â„¢ is designed for firewood logs only and is not compatible with pellets or the Pellet Adapter.
What accessories are compatible with Basecampâ„¢ 24?
Basecamp 24â„¢ is compatible with all 24-inch Solo Stove fire pit accessories, including the Fire Pit Surround, Heat Deflector, Shield, Lid, and Shelter.
